According to a Tourism Day Special Supplement released by the Ministry of Tourism Maldives, the country is expected to surpass 2 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2024. The island destination celebrated its 1 millionth arrival earlier this year in June and has since continued to bring in large numbers. By August, the numbers had reached 1.2 million which signified a 10.2% growth from the previous year.
These numbers are significant given that tourism is a crucial source of income for the Maldives. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the country has developed its tourism sector so that tourists can look forward to the best villas in Maldives when they arrive. Currently, top resorts like Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives continue to offer some of the best island experiences that appeal to tourists looking for a vacation at the end of the year
