Climate change has been a huge challenge to the Maldives always, and the government has been finding remedies for the same for several years. A Netherlands-based engineering form ‘Dutch Docklands’ has come up with a novel design of a floating city to be developed in the Maldives, and the experts believe that this would be a perfect initiative to address all the issues.
Luxury Maldives resorts the likes of OZEN Life Maadhoo also practice several sustainable practices to reduce climate change impacts, but according to the scientists, the Maldives still faces the dangers of becoming uninhabitable in future years due to rising sea levels. The proposed floating city named Maldives Floating City (MFC) will feature beachfront residences and other services across a total lagoon area of 200 hectares.
