Maldives Makes Its Presence Felt at ITB China 2023 – Key Opportunities for Tourism Promotion

The Maldives was one of the exhibitors at ITB China 2023 held from 12th to 14th September this year in Shanghai and was also named as the event’s official island travel partner. Its dedicated stand featured the participation of the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and over 30 other companies; they were provided with the perfect opportunity to promote the destination for outbound travel from China as well as network with Chinese domestic tourism professionals.

As part of its promotion activities, the MMPRC hosted several onsite activities at ITB China 2023 and was also the sponsor of the ITB China Customised and Themed Networking Lunch with notable participants from the travel industry. China remains an important tourism source market for this Indian Ocean nation which has seen a steady increase in Chinese tourists since direct flights between the two countries resumed in January 2023.
