Maldives Welcomes New Tourism Minister Amidst Presidential Commitment to Diplomacy

The President of the Maldives, HE Dr Mohamed Muizzu, has recently designated Ibrahim Faisal as the Honorary Tourism Minister, signifying a crucial appointment for the tourism-dependent nation. Faisal officially assumed his role during a ceremony held at the President’s Office following the inauguration of the new Maldivian president.

The newly appointed minister, Hon Ibrahim Faisal, earned his higher education credentials from Westminster International College, Malaysia, specialising in business studies. Notably, Faisal has previously served as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and held a significant role as an additional secretary at the High Commission of the Maldives in Malaysia.

Hon. Alain St. Ange, the former Tourism Minister of Seychelles, extended his congratulations to Mr. Faisal, highlighting the recognition from international tourism leaders. St. Ange, also serving as the VP for government relations for the World Tourism Network (WTN), conveyed best wishes on behalf of this global tourism association.

As the Maldives undergoes this ministerial transition, President Muizzu has affirmed a commitment to fostering diplomatic ties with various nations, expressing a dedication to balance geopolitical engagements, including collaboration with China and India.
