UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy to be held in Phuket – A conference for the ages

UNESCO has revealed that Phuket province has been chosen as the venue for the UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy Annual Conference in 2024. Phuket successfully secured the hosting rights through an online application on October 16, 2023, competing with 49 member cities from 30 countries to showcase the conference events and practices. Usually held under a theme, the event is a highly-anticipated festival of cuisine and fun.

Under the proposed theme, “From ordinary to extraordinary: Unlocking the creative potential of local cuisine for sustainable food practice,” the conference in Phuket will spotlight the region’s gastronomic heritage and advocate for sustainable development, and perhaps shine a light on Karon beach hotels like the well-known Jono X Phuket Karon.
