Maldives Welcomes Over 40,000 Tourists This Summer – An Ideal Getaway for the Season

According to the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism, the island welcomed around 44,000 tourists as of mid-June, 2024. The month of June saw an average arrival count of 3.7 thousand tourists for a day, while the total number of arrivals for the year so far represents a 9.6% increase from arrival numbers recorded during the same period last year.

A majority of the market share belongs to China, accounting for 11.5% of the total arrivals, while Russia, the UK, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and the United States continue to contribute to tourist numbers as well. Accordingly, the Maldives continues to draw in regular tourists on their road to achieving a target of 2 million arrivals for 2024.

The island’s hospitality industry continues to be the best-yielding market in Asia with plenty of hotels and private island resorts such as the Niyama Private Islands Maldives which is one of the finest luxury resorts with a Maldives pool villa.
