Mask Mandate Becomes Voluntary in Thailand

Following a period of strict COVID-19 regulations that included a mask mandate, Thailand has finally announced news favourable to any resident or tourist in the country, arriving as positive news for a luxury hotel in Phuket. The result of removing the mask mandate and lifting curbs on nightlife venues will likely be a driving factor to anticipate a large number of tourist arrivals to hotels like SAii Laguna Phuket.

As of June 2022, the country removed the mask mandate and made it a voluntary requirement, following a restriction first imposed in June 2021. According to a statement made by Prime Minister, Prayuth Chan-Ocha, in addition to the removal of the mask mandate, karaoke bars, nightclubs and other entertainment venues in the country were allowed resume back to the usual operating hours. In an attempt to once again attract travellers, a majority of Southeast Asian countries are relaxing the rules and restrictions imposed due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
