Mekotekan Rituals

An age old tradition that is reflective of history, victory and superstition, the Mekotekan Rituals derived from the words tek- tek-kan. This essentially means from the sounds of stricken wooden sticks, thus the ritual itself requires the males of the village of Munggu to join and wield long stiff bamboo poles onto the streets. It’s a representation because according to myth, this ritual was conducted to welcome the kingdom’s soldiers back from the battlefield. Held every six months, it’s a visual favourite amongst the guests at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. Therefore if you are searching for a Resort in Bali Kuta that is within accessible perimeters of this enchanting ceremony, do consider the Sheraton.
