The Chongyuan Temple located in the Yangcheng Lake peninsula in Suzhou Industrial Park, Jiangsu Province is a Buddhist temple with a rich history of 1504 years. The month of September brings about the mid-Autumn Lightening Festival for Blessing in Chongyuan Temple. This significant festival gathers the Suzhou people to feast on moon cakes as they burn joss sticks and light candles while offering red water chestnuts, white lotus roots, pomegranates, Chinese chestnuts and mooncakes to the Moon Goddess.
The Stone Lake and Baodai Bridge are known to be the best place for locals and guests to witness the bright moon during the festival.
