Where do Maldivians vacation when they live in one of the last remaining paradises on earth? That was the question the first ever Vacations Expo in the country hoped to answer with its first installment. Having taken place on the 6th of August the expo offered Maldivians the unique opportunity to explore various holiday hotspots in their own home country as well as in the Asian region at large. Organized by High Rise the expo took place at Male’s National Art Gallery with the participation of exhibitors from Singapore and Malaysia among many others. Encouraging attendees to explore lesser known Maldives places to visit and to even experience one of the many island resorts the country is home to such as Adaaran Club Rannalhi, the event delved into possibilities of both overseas and inbound travel options for Maldivians. One of the main motives in hosting the program was to inform local travelers of the holiday options, airfares and package deals available in regional tourist hubs. Travel promotions and a chance to win a free cruise were among the giveaways on offer at the event.
