The travel advisories imposed by the government of Switzerland have been relaxed for some time, and Sri Lanka can expect more travellers in the coming season. The travel advisories were given in mid-July to avoid unnecessary travel to Sri Lanka as a result of the country’s uneasy economic and political situation. However, with the country’s peace and order being restored, many source markets relaxed their travel advisories, and Switzerland followed.
From January to August 2022, around 9500 Swiss travellers visited Sri Lanka, and the numbers have kept increasing towards the end of the year. These tourists have shown interest in choosing the best hotels in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, and the coastal areas as their accommodation options. Meanwhile, Heritance Tea Factory has been a popular attraction among many of these travellers.
