A five weeklong celebration of mountain biking, Mountain Bike Month was held from May to June this year in South Australia. Cycling enthusiasts planning to explore South Australia on two wheels the rest of the year also have the option of staying at a centrally located hotel Adelaide CBD has to offer such as Country Comfort Adelaide, from where you can access the city’s many cycling paths.
Those who were into mountain biking had the chance to travel further afield and take part in a number of special events throughout South Australia. First up was Dirty Weekend (2nd to 3rd May) which is the state’s sole 24 hour mountain challenge, hosted at Cudlee Creek. For a more serious challenge riders had the chance to sign up for the Outback Odyssey (9th to 24th May) which spans 16 days and which encompasses a 900 kilometre route. A more family friendly event, the Melrose Fat Tyre Festival (5th to 9th June) featured trails to ride and much fun and entertainment too.
