Multilingual App for Lake Biwa Canal Cruise – New Development to Enhance Tourism in Kyoto

Amongst the best things to do in Kyoto for tourists is to go on the Lake Biwa Canal Cruise which provides an enchanting journey in the Spring and Fall seasons. An exciting development is in the works, an app with a multilingual audio guide is being developed and is expected to launch next Spring. It will give foreign tourists making the round trip along the waterway between Otsu and Kyoto a chance to gain greater insights and witness the changing seasons be it enchanting Spring or Fall foliage.

This initiative coincides with the proposed plan to extend the line to the Port of Otsu on Lake Biwa in the spring of next year. Currently, the route connects Otsu’s Mii Temple area and eastern Kyoto’s Keage area.
