Jaffna, Sri Lanka is all decorated and festive during August (sometimes, September) every year, thanks to the gracious Hindu festival ‘Nallur’. This year too, the Hindu community hosted the Nallu Kovil celebrations for several days. Since the COVID 19 pandemic was ongoing, the festival did not attract many people but managed to get all religious and traditional customs done.
Those who used to travel to Sri Lanka during this month before the pandemic used to take a long tour to Jaffna to witness this splendid traditional event as it was truly worthwhile. Thanks to online sources such as Truly Sri Lanka, the world has the opportunity to know about events like these, and the customs the relevant communities follow to respect their traditions and religious values. The Nallur Festival 2022 is expected to be much grander if the world by then, is free from the challenges of the pandemic.
