Literally meaning “nine nights” in Sanskrit, Navarathri is a nine nights and ten days long festival that take place annually, usually around the months of September-October. The festival is dedicated to the worship of Hindu Goddess Durga and is celebrated by Hindus worldwide.
Despite boasting one of the largest Roman Catholic communities in all of Sri Lanka, Chilaw is a multicultural little town in the Puttalam District with a rich history. Other than the surrounding beach and lagoon, Chilaw is famous for its four week long Munneswaram Temple Festival, attracting followers of all faiths from across the world.
