New e-Visa System Launched in Thailand – Visiting the ‘Land of Smiles’ Just Got Easier

Making it easier for travellers wishing to visit Thailand, the country launched its new e-Visa system on 1st January 2025 and is all set to help record more arrivals this year. This platform is on offer at 94 Thai embassies and consulates around the world, though it is not applicable for those from the 93 nations that come under Thailand’s visa-exemption scheme. This new system which can be easily accessed via its official website (www.thaievisa.go.th) streamlines the visa application process and makes it more user-friendly and efficient while eliminating the need for in-person applications.

It also serves to reduce paperwork since all the required supporting documents and applications can be submitted electronically and enhances security as well. This is yet another positive development for the Thai tourism industry which saw a significant boost in 2024. Bangkok, the capital, remains a popular destination for business and leisure with global travellers enjoying stays at properties like Maitria Hotel Sukhumvit 18. With the new e-Visa system in place, the demand for such a hotel in Sukhumvit will no doubt increase as more visitors look to experience the best of Thailand.
