New Government Urged to Prioritise Tourism in First 100 Days – Addressing Key Issues Vital

Following the economic slump during the pandemic era, the new Thai government has been considering a Secondary City Voucher programme, initially introduced by Pita Limjaroenrat, the leader of the Move Forward Party. He emphasised how this must be prioritised by the government during the first 100 days of governance, with the goal of attracting visitors to secondary cities.

He pointed out the flaws in tourism being heavily concentrated in just 5 provinces in the whole of Thailand, which makes over 2 trillion baht, while the secondary cities don’t reap these benefits. It is no surprise that some regions are more popular than others, with Northern Thailand being famous for the best hotels in Chiang Mai, with properties such as Anantara Chiang Mai Resort being popular mainstays for their comforts. It is important, however, to visit the more underrated parts of the country in order to fully grasp the beauty of Thailand.
