No More Tourism Tax for Events in Abu Dhabi – A Further Boost to the Tourism Industry

In a welcome move, Abu Dhabi recently decided to do away with the tourism fee taxation on local events; now, event organisers no longer need to pay the 10% tourism fee that was applicable for each ticket sold. This was made public via a circular from the Department of Culture and Tourism and highlighted on websites like skift.com and breakingtravelnews.com in March this year. As per the new regulations, those organising events will need to obtain the necessary event licenses as well as declare the revenue that was generated.

By exempting events from the tourism tax, Abu Dhabi will look to become a premier choice for those looking to host large-scale business or leisure functions in the region. Of course, this dynamic emirate continues to offer versatile venues at 5-star hotels in Abu Dhabi catering to everything from meetings to weddings. This includes properties like Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara which offers a unique backdrop for functions amidst the enchanting landscape of the Empty Quarter, the world’s largest sand desert.
