Nyepi Day 2015 in Bali – Day of Quiet Contemplation

Marked as being a day of relative silence and inactivity, Nyepi Day in Bali is a unique annual festival that is linked with the island’s culture and heritage. Considered a New Year Festival, the observance of this day includes people ceasing from regular activities, while motor vehicles are not permitted on the roads as well. According to the lunar based Saka calendar, Nyepi Day in 2015 will fall on 21st March. The period before the festival is marked by much colourful traditions and viewing them is a popular activity amongst the things to do in Nusa Dua, which can be enjoyed while staying at one of the many accommodation options in the region such as The Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali. Another popular feature are the traditions followed on the day prior to Nyepi Day which in contrast is quite “noisy” with plenty of activity taking place be it rituals being performed to chase away unwanted “forces” or lively street parades.
