As part of its measures to make it easier for travellers to visit, Sri Lanka restarted its on-arrival Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) services at its international airports last October; this ETA is being issued to fully vaccinated travellers who may not have had time to obtain it online before departing to the island. Such tourists who have received a full dose of a COVID-19 vaccine can enjoy quarantine-free travel within the country and enjoy the best it has to offer; this includes beachside accommodation at ‘Safe and Secure’ certified Pasikuda hotels including the likes of Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa which follows stringent health and hygiene protocols.
Additionally, the Sri Lankan government announced last November that it would be launching a global tourism promotion campaign costing an estimated US$1.3 million, targeting prime source markets. It will be hoped that the campaign which includes digital marketing and social media initiatives, television commercials and tourism promotions will help to bring in more arrivals this year.
