Almost over 20,000 tourists from all over the world flocked to the Hat Rin Beach located on Koh Phangan Island to join the famous Full Moon Party, which was held from Saturday evening to the early hours of Sunday morning. Many a hotel in Koh Phangan including the likes of Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas experienced an influx of guests during this period as well.
Mr. Wichawut Jinto, the provincial governor, stated that the party is a major attraction for foreign tourists and that they were working diligently to rebuild a positive image for the event. Which has been portrayed in a negative light in the media during the past few years. The security officials who were patrolling the beach were focused on preventing drug use as well as monitoring liquor stores after allegations were made about fake liquor being sold.
