The City of Doha has recently been chosen along with three other world cities to initiate an integrated global model for food, water, and energy. This unique stratagem is conducted by SUNEX, an international research initiative launched by the Belmont Forum and JPI Urban Europe.
Berlin, Bristol, Vienna, and Doha have been chosen due to their widely varying economic, social, individual weather and climate factors, as well as differing consumption patterns. The capital of Qatar, in particular, enjoys significantly high living standards with many luxury hotels in Doha including the likes of Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara contributing to the booming tourist industry. The global model will be monitored by SUNEX through a control sensing network and is set to commence in July 2018 and end in July 2021.
