Over 550,000 Tourists Visit the Maldives in First Half of 2021 – Promising Signs for Tourism

The Maldives recorded over 550,000 tourist arrivals from January to June 2021 highlighting once more this Indian Ocean nation’s post-pandemic recovery. The number of tourists did decline somewhat due to the temporary halting of arrivals from South Asia including the key market India in May this year; however, this picked up after the ban was lifted on 15th July 2021. By 28th July this year, the total number of tourists had gone past 600,000 and signs are promising that the country will reach its targeted 1.5 million arrivals by the end of 2021.

When it comes to holidays to the Maldives, luxury beach resort options are each on private islands increasing the level of safety, while travellers enjoy quarantine-free entry as well. Additionally, resorts such as Adaaran Club Rannalhi have adopted comprehensive health and hygiene protocols with advanced cleaning and sanitisation as well as physical distancing measures too.
