Participating SATTE to Bring in More Indian Tourist to Sri Lanka – Promoting Sri Lanka as a Tourist Destination

The leading travel and tourism event in the region, South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) 2018 saw the participation of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau as well. This relatively recently concluded event was hosted in New Delhi featuring 52 leading hoteliers and travel agents.

Focusing on promoting MICE segments, destination wedding, religious tourism and film tourism, SLTPB gave more prominence to pilgrimage tourism which is quite popular among Indian devotees and tourists. Sri Lanka has seen an increase in Indian tourists who have the choice of everything from hill country accommodation to coastal places such as The River House, which is a popular Bentota beach resort. Visitors also had the chance to get more information on holiday experiences available in the island and cultural diversity, Ayurveda are some of the main attractions Indians find exciting.
