The 5th anniversary of Plastic Free July was held in Siem Reap the centre of the “conservation awakening” in Southeast Asia.
What began in 2015 at Long’s Bar where 80 guests got together and had “green” cocktails went on to inspire the event to the proportions it is today. Though it started small, Plastic Free July has started attracting the attention of international tourists and conservationists.
Plastic Free July was first started in Australia and focuses on dedicating a whole month to avoid single-use plastics. The Siem Reap version started on the 30th of June with the launch party and ended on the 26th of July with the Be Plastic Free, Be Happy event.
Tourists made the most of the Siem Reap hotel deals and stayed with hotels like FCC Angkor Managed by Avani Hotels & Resorts for the course of the celebration.
