A festival of much colour, lion dances, magic shows, parades and cabaret shows amongst many other stage shows, the Hungry Ghost Festival can be witnessed at all Chinese shrines. However, the Seng Tek Bel Shrine and the Fresh Market in Phuket organize two of the most famous Por Tor celebrations on the island. Those based in a hotel, an apartment or even a Phuket luxury resortlocated within easy reach of these locations such as COMO Point Yamu, Phuket, can visit and enjoy a firsthand experience of Por Tor. During the festival, ancestors who have passed are offered special kinds of food with flowers and candles; ghosts that are known to have been released from hell for this one month period and who do not have any relatives are given offerings as well.
