Qatar Tourism has launched nominations for the 2024 Qatar Tourism Awards, set to honour businesses and individuals in the nation’s tourism and hospitality sectors. The awards, now in their second edition, cover seven categories: Service Excellence, Gastronomic Experiences, Iconic Attractions and Activities, World-Class Events, Digital Footprint, Smart and Sustainable Tourism, and Community Leadership.
Organized with the UN World Tourism Organization, the ceremony promotes excellence in the industry. Nominations are open until August 8. Omar Al Jaber, Acting Chief of the Tourism Development Sector, encourages broad participation to boost Qatar’s cultural heritage and public-private collaboration in tourism. The Shura Council advocates for private sector support and investment in tourism, aligning with Qatar’s Vision 2030 to attract six million tourists by 2030. The region’s tourism sector, notably in the GCC, is experiencing rapid growth, with initiatives like the ‘Double the Discovery’ project enhancing Qatar’s appeal. Luxury hotels in Doha the likes of Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara are seeing an influx of visitors following the project, making the future of Qatari tourism quite bright.
