Quiksilver Uluwatu Challenge, World Surf League Qualifying Series

The fourth annual Quiksilver Uluwatu Challenge ended with a bang this year as top surfing names from around the world went head to head with each other as well as newly emerging talent. The challenge was held from the 13th to the 16th of August and this year was special as it was co-sanctioned by the Asian Surfing Championship and the WSL and held a QS1000 rating. The challenge aims to promote active healthy living and a clean environment and since its inception has helped clean up most of the main beaches in Uluwatu.

A number of big names in the surfing world showed up for this year’s event including four time world champion Mark Richards and two time world champions Tom Carroll and Kelia Moniz. Travellers hoping to catch next year’s action will find some Bali beach resorts to stay at that are central to the event. The Anantara Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa is a great option if you’re looking for a bit of pampering between riding the waves.
