Record-breaking February Arrivals Figure in Maldives – Tourism Continues to Surge Ahead

The Maldives, a tropical paradise renowned for its pristine beaches and luxurious resorts, witnessed a surge in arrivals last month. According to the Maldives Tourism Ministry, 217,394 tourists were recorded in February 2024 which was the highest number in a single month; additionally, the figure was a significant 22.2% increase when compared with the same period last year. This surge in tourism is attributed to various factors, including relaxed travel restrictions, increased flight connectivity, and the growing popularity of the Maldives as a safe and traveller-friendly destination.

At the time, China emerged as the leading source market, followed by Russia, Italy, the United Kingdom, and India. Travellers from these nations and others across the globe are continuing to arrive in large numbers in the Maldives. 4 star resorts on private islands remain a popular choice for tourists including properties like Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives offering family fun and romantic retreats. As the local tourism industry flourishes, the island nation is poised to solidify its position as a premier travel destination in the years to come.
