Riverboarding World Championship – Running rapids on a boogie board!

The popular boardsport, ‘riverboarding’ is an exhilarating activity practiced using a high-flotation riverboard in highly aerated water. The third edition of The Riverboarding World Championship was successfully held from 21st to 26th October 2018 in Queenstown, New Zealand. Athletes representing 20 different countries and 6 continents competed on the Kawarau and Hawea Rivers. It included disciplines of boardercross, endurocross, slalom and freestyle surfing. Tourists who were residing at Queenstown apartment accommodation options such as Oaks Shores, were able to witness some of the exciting riverboarding competitions. The first and the second events were hosted in Indonesia and Guatemala respectively. The Slalom and Boardercross races were the cynosures of all eyes since it was a thrilling experience to catch a glimpse of speed, jumps, drops and occasional collision of boardercross. The Riverboarding World Championship 2018 was a once in a lifetime experience to meet and greet the world’s best riverboarders in Queenstown!
