The premier event of Sri Lanka’s horseracing calendar took place this month with the RTC Governor’s Cup Raceday 2023 being hosted once more. It was held on 15th April 2023 at the Racecourse which is within easy reach of luxury boutique hotels in Nuwara Eliya including properties such as Langdale Boutique Hotel which makes an ideal base for travellers. Organised by the Royal Turf Club (RTC), this event which has a rich history is part of the country’s Horse Racing Festival which attracts locals and tourists alike to this enchanting hill country destination.
This year, RTC partnered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau to promote the country further and draw more foreign travellers. Accordingly, the 2023 horse racing season was rebranded as “RTC #VisitSriLanka Horseracing Season 2023”, highlighting the island’s potential for sports tourism as well. Apart from horseracing, Nuwara Eliya continues to be a hotspot for tourists looking to experience the natural beauty of this mountainous region of Sri Lanka.
