“Samui Wonder Island” Begins Next Month – Travel Scheme to Target Tourists

Next month will see the launch of the “Samui Wonder Island” travel scheme to encourage foreign tourists to once more explore and experience Koh Samui. The island is expected to reopen in July 2021; under this programme, travellers will have to undergo a rapid COVID-19 swab test on day two or three of their stay at a designated Alternative Local State Quarantine (ALQ) property.

If the test is negative, they are free to head to certain parts of the island under a ‘sealed route’ with a guide. Another COVID-19 test will be conducted on day seven and if that is negative as well, they can freely travel around Koh Samui and stay at a Chaweng hotel if they wish; such properties including the likes of Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort have adopted enhanced hygiene and sanitisation protocols to ensure safe stays too.
