Santacruzan

Santacruzan is a joyous annual procession held in Philippines to commemorate mother of the Roman Emperor, Queen Helen’s finding the “True Cross” preceded by a 9 day Novena in honour of the Holy Cross. On the last day which usually coincides with a weekend, the Sanctacruzan is performed. This famous sacred ritual is performed with the Reyna Elena accompanied by a little boy depicting King Constantine, and the Sagalas (muses) accompanying him representing biblical characters and attributes of the Blessed Virgin that would walk under decorated ceremonial arches. Some of them dress as Flower Girls, Angels, and their Escorts. In the recent years the Santacruzan and Flores De Mayo feasts were merged to form what is now popularly known as the “Queen of Filipino Feasts”, The Santacruzan & Flores De Mayo. During this annual festival Manila service apartments such as Somerset Millennium Makati are expected to have full occupancy with tourist guests coming over for the event.
