Second highest tourist arrivals for 2021 recorded in October – Boosting the tourism industry
The Maldives continues to make progress when it comes to the tourism sector. The highest tourist arrivals for the year 2021 were recorded back in October. During this month the country welcomed 142,066 tourists who stayed at either a high-end luxury property or 4-star resort in Maldives.
This is a huge increase of 21,515 arrivals seen in the country in October 2021. The 1 millionth tourist for the year arrived on the 29th of October 2021 and was welcomed with a small celebration at the airport. The Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom thanked the government, health authorities, and ministries for helping Maldives reach this point quickly. Many resorts like Reethi Faru Resort also benefited immensely from the increase of tourists in this month.
