Shifting Gear – Design, Innovation and the Australian Car

Providing visitors with a unique chance to get to learn more about Australian cars, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) will present a novel car exhibition in 2015, featuring some of the country’s most iconic creations. Running from 6th March to 12 July 2015, the exhibition titled Shifting Gear – Design, Innovation and the Australian Car will be the first of its kind to be hosted at an Australian art institution. Visitors can expect to gain insights into the history of local automobiles be it design or engineering as well as find out the stories of those that were engaged in creating these innovative and stylish vehicles. The 1969 Holden Hurricane, the GM 6.0-litre Holden EFIJY Showcar and the 1970 Holden Torana GTR-X Concept will be among the highlights of the exhibition.
