Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2018 – A Most Joyous Time to Visit

For the people of Sri Lanka, the island nation of many wonders, New Year falls on the month of April, with the coming of spring. According to the astrological system followed in Sri Lanka, the festival marks the passing of the sun from the house of Pisces all the way to the house of Aries. This celestial phenomenon is celebrated with such joyous festivities and rituals, that it is one of the best times to go around in Sri Lanka.

This year the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, or Aluth Avurudu fall on the 13th and 14th of April. If you’re a holidaying in Sri Lanka during this time, you’re in for a most wonderful time!
