SLTDA to Set-Up Island-Wide Branches
Hopes to Assist Tourists & Tourism
The SLTDA or Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority is planning to set-up branches across the island and they are expected to serve a threefold purpose; assist tourists, improve the tourism infrastructure in a province and support businesses and entities engaged in tourism. This is according to an online article published by the Daily Mirror last month which was quoting Kimarli Fernando, the SLTDA Chairperson.
According to the plan, special tourism offices will be set up at each province and will cater to the needs of those who travel to Sri Lanka. A popular holiday destination, the country’s tourism industry was severely affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic though it is hoped that things will change as travel restrictions ease. Apart from official promotions, local sites such as Truly Sri Lanka have also been involved in promoting the destination and it will be hoped that tourists will soon arrive in numbers.
