Aussie Mitch Parkinson Takes Top Spot

An international surfing event, So Sri Lanka Pro 2019 successfully took place last month at Sri Lanka’s most popular surfing destination, Arugam Bay. This World Surfing League Qualifying Series 3000 event ran from 25th to 29th September and saw Mitch Parkinson from Australia becoming the eventual winner. Known for its surf-friendly waves, Arugam Bay can be found on the island’s east coast and is featured on beach tours and online blog sites the likes of Truly Sri Lanka.

So Sri Lanka Pro 2019 saw a great many international surfers travel to Sri Lanka in order to take part as well as to earn points to qualify for the WSL Championship Tour. Many of those who participated were well-known names in surfing, while also being contenders to take part in the inaugural surfing event at the 2020 Japan Olympic Games.
