Songkran or the Thai New Year is popular around the world as a water celebration festival. Thai people believe that water is a symbol of purity and it can wash away the grievances of the past year. As a part of the festival, the young people pour fragrant water into the palms of the elders as a sign of respect and receive their blessings. Songkran attracts plenty of tourists who visit Bangkok for the spring break. This year the Songkran Festival was held from 13th to 15th April in Bangkok. Many tourists who were holidaying in Bangkok got a chance to take part in water fights which were a popular activity among the youth. Those who wanted to savour mouth-watering Thai dishes had many a steakhouse in Bangkok with options such as Benihana Thailand.
