Songkran in Chiang Rai – Celebrated this Month with Restrictions in Place

Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year, will be held this month (April) with several essential restrictions in place to safeguard the public from the prevailing global pandemic. Those who will be based at a Chiang Rai hotel the likes of Hotel Sooknirund will have easy access to partake in the festivities and celebrations. As per the declaration of the Thai government, the festival will be held from 10th to 15th April. High anticipation surrounds the event this year since the last year’s festivities were cancelled due to the global pandemic.

Silom and Khao San Road are some of the top hotspots to witness or participate in this event. Although Songkran is more popular for its fun water fights, it is a festival that offers more significance for purification and family reunions.
