Sri Lanka Aims To Build Tourism Momentum – SLTDA Targets 2.5m Arrivals

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is venturing out to increase international arrivals with hopes of boosting one of the country’s highest foreign currency importers. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has set ambitious targets for 2016 at 2.5 million foreign tourists and a potential $3.5 billion in revenue.

Many visit Sri Lanka for its diversity and hospitality. Whilst the chilly mist hovers over the steep hills of Nuwara Eliya, beautiful beaches and the lively marine life line the coastal towns of Trincomalee, Pasikudah, Galle, Unawatuna, Tangalle. hotel stays can be chosen from an array of choices, be it low budget or high end luxury, such as the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort.

A total of 1.17m travellers have already entered the island within the first half of 2016 and July numbers indicate further growth.
