Sri Lanka Aims for A Million Arrivals in 2022 – Roadshows & Destination Marketing Launched

Sri Lanka is getting its tourism industry back on track following the pandemic and is hoping to record one million arrivals in 2022. In September this year, tourists to the country crossed the 500,000 mark and it will be hoped that the winter season, a popular time for holidays, will boost arrivals. Such international travellers can look forward to experiencing the best of the island once more including key destinations like Kalutara; beach hotels here along the popular south coast such as Turyaa Kalutara offer safe stays as well with stringent health and sanitisation measures in place.

To attract more visitors, Sri Lanka also held several tourism roadshows in India this September in key cities such as New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai; India is a top source market for the country, and it’s hoped that such promotional events will draw added travellers. Additionally, as highlighted on 3rd October 2022 on the Daily FT news website, a destination marketing campaign has been launched by the Sri Lanka Tourism Alliance; utilising multiple platforms including Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and the Google Display Network, this campaign is looking to improve the nation’s visibility for international travellers and increase winter bookings.
