Sri Lanka approves 5 new airlines to operate to Colombo to boost tourist arrivals – Major improvements

Sri Lankan government tries to revive its tourism sector that has been badly damaged by the COVID 19 pandemic. Through this, they aim to strengthen the economy which has also been challenged. As the country is open for international travel, the government has now decided to approve 5 new airlines to operate to Colombo and this will surely help to increase the number of tourist arrivals to the country.

Two airlines from Russia, one each from Sweden, France, and Italy will begin their operations as per the plan. If the demand shows great responses, these airlines also will consider increasing the frequency of the flights. All Tissamaharama hotels the likes of Kithala Resort hope that 2022 will be a great year where they can get good numbers of reservations, and these initiatives will indeed help Sri Lanka and its travel stakeholders to reach their targets.
