An event that showcased some of the world’s most precious gems as well as offering those in the industry a valuable chance to network, the International Coloured Gemstone Congress was held from 16th to 19th May, 2015. The bi-annual congress and gem show was held at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, one of the leading Colombo hotels in the city and which also hosted the gala closing dinner on the 19th of May.
The 16th International Coloured Gemstone Congress featured over 50 companies that had been selected beforehand, each showcasing a stunning array of jewellery and gemstones. The event which was a FACETS Sri Lanka Congress edition also hosted a panel of internationally renowned speakers such as Editor of GemScene.com, Cynthia Unninayar, CEO of Art´Lev Jewellery Design, Be Carla Pinheiro and Kentaro Emori from the Central Gem Laboratory in Tokyo. After the official congress ended, participants also had the opportunity to take part in a weeklong tour that included visits to the sapphire mines in Elahera and Ratnapura.
