Sri Lanka is unlikely to get targeted revenues in 2021

According to Economynext, ‘Moody’s’ has recently published a report on the overall economic status and the challenges that it will have to face in 2021. It has taken into consideration the import controls the government implemented and also the fiscal consolidations. The report further reveals that it will be hard for Sri Lanka to re-finance the US$ 4 billion debt during the year.

Many industries, including the travel and tourism sector of Sri Lanka, collapsed due to the COVID-19 outbreak and, although several months have passed, the industry is still facing several challenges. Every Yala resort the likes of Uga Chena Huts have now started their operations targeting domestic tourism, but international tourism, which is the main income generator, is yet to commence in the country.
