Sri Lanka Launches Campaigns to Boost Tourism – Five Key Destinations Targeted

In October last year, Sri Lanka unveiled several promotion campaigns in a bid to boost tourist arrivals. This was announced by Prasanna Ranatunga, the nation’s Tourism Minister, who added that such initiatives were being introduced to get the tourism industry back on track following the COVID-19 pandemic. These campaigns target five countries from which Sri Lanka hopes to attract travellers, namely Britain, India, Russia, Germany and France.

It was also revealed that the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau would be carrying out further destination promotions for the Middle East, Ukraine and Kazakhstan markets. Following the reopening of its borders and the subsequent offering of quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated tourists, Sri Lanka saw an increase in arrivals and will hope this will continue in 2022. Corporate travellers also have much to look forward to and can stay at a Colombo city business hotel; options include “Safe and Secure” certified properties such as Mandarina Colombo that offer an ideal base for business and leisure alike.
