In an initiative to attract more Indian tourists to the island, Sri Lanka has launched what it terms as the Ramayanaya Trail which takes visitors to key sites across the country. Among the 19 locales that will be included in this trail are Galle in the South Coast, Chilaw along the West Coast, Mannar in the North and Ella in the Central region where one has the option of staying at luxury hotels Sri Lanka has to offer such as The Secret Ella which is part of The Secret Hotels. A collaboration between the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau (SLTPB) and 26 private sector companies, the Ramayanaya Trail is linked with the Hindu Sanskrit epic known as the Ramayana; the epic tale has a section which tells of how Seetha, who was Rama’s wife was captured by king Ravana, of Lanka.
