Sri Lanka Looks to Attract More Dutch Tourists – International Arrivals Also on the Rise

In a bid to draw more tourists to the country, Sri Lanka has been looking to attract travellers from the Netherlands this year. This was seen as the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Netherlands hosted a special event on 19th April 2023. At the gathering in the country’s embassy in the Netherlands were more than 50 representatives from the tourism industry including travel journalists, travel agents, media professionals, social media influencers and travel bloggers. The event showcased the island nation’s distinctive experiences and attractions as well as other key allures.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has seen a steady rise in international arrivals through the year which bodes well as it gets its tourism industry back on track. As of 25th June 2023, the country had welcomed 604,386 tourists according to statistics released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. India was the top source market followed by Russia and the UK respectively. It will be hoped that travellers from the Netherlands will also increase following destination promotion initiatives. These international visitors have much to look forward to as well; these include enjoying things to do near Sigiriya, holistic Ayurvedic rituals at properties like Ayurvie Sigiriya, cultural discoveries in Kandy and beachside bliss in Pasikuda.
