Sri Lanka Plans to Attract 2.5 Million Tourists in 2024: Revival Under3

Nalin Perera, Director General of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, articulated the nation’s tourism resurgence at a roadshow in the city, strategically timed after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s encounter with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Dubai Airport en route to Spain. Addressing the challenges posed by political turmoil following the Covid-19 pandemic, Perera highlighted Sri Lanka’s resilience, asserting a robust recovery.

Emphasizing tourism’s pivotal role as the third-largest revenue source for the country, he revealed welcoming one million tourists this year, with India contributing significantly at 22-24% of the market share. With an eye on the future, Perera outlined ambitious plans, aiming to attract 2.5 million global tourists to Sri Lanka in 2024, underscoring the nation’s determination to reclaim its position as a premier travel destination. Down south is a favourable destination for most visitors, and Galle hotels the likes of The Fortress Resort & Spa play a huge role in making Sri Lanka and its coasts an attractive visit.
