A rising tide of travellers returns to Sri Lanka’s scenic heartlands.

Sri Lanka is set to welcome over 198,000 tourists in August 2025, reflecting a 20.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth continues the steady upward trend in arrivals, following 164,609 tourists in August 2024.

From January to August 2025, total tourist arrivals are projected to reach 1,566,523, signalling a strong recovery for the country’s travel sector. Visitors looking for a serene stay near iconic landmarks may consider options like Habarana Village by Cinnamon, a charming and preferred Sigiriya hotel offering easy access to the UNESCO World Heritage site.

These figures underline Sri Lanka’s growing appeal as a must-visit destination in 2025.
